Quincy Art Centers Art Camp begins in June

The Quincy Art Centers art camp will be starting soon! Camps are offered for children of all ages. Pre-school camp is for students 4 to 5 years old and must be potty trained, kindergarten through third grade camps are for those students who have completed Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade. 4th to 6th grade camps are for students who have completed 4th, 5th, or 6th grade. All camps include snack and activity time on each day of camp. Sessions begin June 21st. The 2010 Schedule is:

Session 1

One, Two, Buckle My Shoe: This is a storybook camp for Pre-K, 4 and 5 year olds. We will read a story and then create art in the manner of the storybook artist. We will paint, cut paper and found objects to create wonderful illustrations that will be placed in our own book. Camp starts June 21 – June 24 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Cost is $50.

Star Wars: Galactic Color Wars: Camp is for Kindergarten through 3rd grade and takes students on a cosmic ride through space. This camp combines “star wars” theme with lots of exploding color to create cosmic masterpieces. Camp starts June 21 – June 25 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $70.

Throwing Mud session I: 4th through 6th graders will use basic hand building and glaze techniques to create fun and functional pottery. They will learn to use the pottery wheel. Camp starts June 21 – June 25 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $70

Session 2

Fancy Nancy: Girls go wild!!: A camp just for girls Pre-K 4 to 5 years old. This is for girls who love to dress up and accessorize. We will read about “Fancy Nancy” and spend time making art in fancy ways. Camp begins June 28 – July 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Cost is $50.

Rainforest Safari: Campers, Kindergarten to 3rd grade, take a walk on the wild side as we paint and sculpt our way through the rainforest. We will explore monkeys, lemurs, jaguars, toucans, and more than 80 different frogs. Camp begins June 28 – July 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $70.

Groovy Garden Art: 4th to 6th graders will create their own groovy garden sculpture using found objects and recycled materials. June 28 – July 2 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $70.

Session 3

Rock, Paper, Scissors-Boys rule!!: Just for boys Pre-K 4 and 5 year olds. Campers will become one with nature and use the great outdoors to inspire their works of art. Rocks, sticks, bugs, dirt, and worms will be part of the fun! Camp begins July 12 – July 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Cost is $50.

Through the looking glass: Kindergarten to 3rd graders don’t be late for this very important date. We are going to create a magical adventure in Wonderland. Our art will focus on the unusual as we imagine what we may see through the looking glass. Camp begins July 12 – July 16 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $70.

Session 4

Lets Get Soakin’ Wet!: Pre-K 4th to 5th graders lets soak up the sun in this week long water camp. Everyday we will get wet and sometimes our work will too. Swimsuits are a plus and painting with our toes is a must. Camp begins July 19 – July 22 from 9:00a.m. to 11:00a.m Cost is $50.

Down by the Sea: Kindergarten to 3rd graders you are the captain of the sea and lets set sail to discover the many fascinating creatures in the sea. Drop anchor and dive for buried treasure, collect sea shells, relax on deck, or just take time to get wet. Camp begins July 19 – July 23 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $70.

Mixed Media Mania: 4th through 6th graders this class is designed for the artist who would like to experiment with a variety of mediums. Paint, pencil, charcoal, ink, colored pencils, and pastels and here to ignite your imagination. Camp begins July 19 – July 23 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $70
