On Saturday, January 30th from 1pm to 3pm The Quincy Public Library Presents: Making Maki Sushi: A Teen Sushi Workshop
The hottest craze hitting the gastronomic stage is sushi. The traditional form of sushi is fermented fish and rice, preserved with salt in a process that has been traced to Southeast Asia, where it remains popular today. Teens are invited to travel to Japan as they join Yukari Shindo Smith demonstrate and execute the unique technique of creating Maki sushi. Teens will use fermented rice, tuna, cucumber and soy paper to create the unique cylindrical pieces commonly found at sushi bars using the ingredients provided. Ms. Smith will then explain the different types of delicacies one might find at a sushi bar. Teens, join us for this educational and delicious workshop as we explore our world.
