QPL presents: World-wide Crafts; Ceramics

By Travis on January 16, 2010

On Saturday, January 23rd  from 10am-12pm The Quincy Public Library presents World-wide Crafts: Ceramics. It’s sure to be a great event for the entire family.

There is a very long history of ceramic art in almost all developed cultures, and often ceramic objects are all the artistic evidence left from vanished cultures, like that of the Nok in Africa over 2,000 years ago. Cultures especially noted for fine ceramics include the Chinese, Cretan, Greek, Persian, Mayan, Japanese, Dominican, and Korean cultures, as well as the modern Western cultures. If the Greeks can do it, so can you! Learn how to make your own ceramic piece to take home with Mike Oneal, Baldwin School Art Instructor. This program is free and open to the public, but due to limited supplies, reservations are required. Please call 223-1309, ext. 207  to register or register online.
